Tuition
We provide tuition on strings & woodwind to people of all ages & stages of learning and can teach up to diploma level & beyond.

String tuition is provided by Neil on the following instruments:
Violin (fiddle), Viola, Cello and Double Bass.
Woodwind tuition is provided by Rhona on the following instruments:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone and Recorder
In addition, tuition can be provided in music theory and also tutoring for secondary school pupils sitting S.Q.A National 4, 5 & Advanced Higher exams.

Charges: £15 per 30-minute lesson
Existing pupils can access the members only area here, and use the password you have been sent.
Composition & arranging
Neil has written many small scale compositions and has been commissioned to compose & arrange music for specific occasions. He has also undertaken 2 large scale commissions, details of which you will find on the 'Projects' page of this website.
The majority of Neil’s composition & arrangements are in the traditional & classical music genre.

Performance
Neil has over 25 years experience as a professional musician and as a performer has played all over the world both as a soloist & orchestral musician. Whilst with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Neil recorded with many great musicians such as Nigel Kennedy, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Sir James Galway, Pinchas Zuckermann & Alfred Brendal.
Neil is always in demand as a performer/ accompanist and has worked with many well known classical & traditional musicians and singers both locally and nationally
Together Neil & Rhona perform and record with local rock band 'The Open Day Rotation'.
Neil is available for all types of performances whether it be a wedding, more formal event or concert.

Charges: negotiatable - £150 minimum
Recording
As a recording artist Neil worked for a number of years as a session musician in London during which time he worked with many of the top names in the music industry. This work included the original cast recording of the Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Whistle down the Wind. Other recordings included backing work for many popular artists including U2, Johnny Dankworth & Clio Laine. He has also featured on recordings from traditional music artists such as Kathleen MacInnes, Griogair Ladhruidh, Donald Black as well as featuring on 2 CD's of his own compositions (see CD's page for details)

Neil is available for various types of recordings and commission work. We have our own home recording studio running ProTools software and using professional standard recording hardware.
